Our Community Grants Program supports grassroots, community-led, food justice-focused nonprofit organizations working to transform food systems to be more accessible, regenerative, and just. We believe everyone deserves the right to grow, sell, buy, and eat nourishing, culturally relevant food.

We prioritize organizations that are:

  • Actively working to remove systemic barriers to food access
  • Led by and deeply connected to the communities they serve
  • Located in regions where we have a baking center or retail presence
  • Centered in grassroots, community-driven work

We are especially interested in projects that address a significant community need and that outline clear, measurable impact. Our application is simple, and you don’t need to be a grant writer to apply!

Guidelines

What we fund:

  • Projects that align specifically with food access and food justice
  • Community-driven, action-oriented projects
  • Projects that address root causes of food system inequities
  • Projects with SMART goals and objectives (specific, measurable, achievable, relevant, and time-bound)
  • Projects that demonstrate a clear plan for long-term sustainability
  • Grassroots organizations rooted in and strengthening the communities around our baking centers

We do not fund:

  • Fundraisers, festivals, or cultural events
  • General operating support or indirect costs
  • Requests from individuals, schools/PTOs, or government agencies
  • Religious programming
  • Debt reduction
  • Capital campaigns
  • Conferences, conventions, or workshops
  • Media projects
  • Organizations that already receive over $2,500 in funding, sponsorship, or in-kind donations from King Arthur in a calendar year
  • Organizations without 501(c)(3) status (exceptions may be considered in rare case)

Eligibility:

Thank you for your interest in applying to our In-Kind Donations Program. Please review the guidelines below and complete the application in full. Due to high demand, not all requests can be fulfilled.

Program Guidelines

Who do we give to:

  • We look for opportunities to support organizations that work to fight hunger, food insecurities, and address issues facing our environment.
  • In addition, we are continually inspired by our employee-owners’ passions and do what we can to support the myriad causes they give their time to champion.
  • While we would like to support all that is good and worthy, please understand that because of demand, we often must decline.

Who we don’t give to:

  • Because our support is cause-related and most of it goes to 501(c)3  nonprofit organizations, the following will be declined: schools/PTOs, churches, teams, athletes, bands, sponsorships and financial solicitations. Often times, inquiries of this nature aren't considered charitable and do not align with our giving program.

Where we give:

  • We focus our in-kind giving in our local communities in Vermont, New Hampshire and Virginia. Out of state requests will be declined. Donations are coordinated for local pick up at our baking center location in Norwich, Vermont or Fairfax, Virginia.
